Yes. We export anime products and the yen's (slight) recover plus everyone realizing that we weren't all going to die because the stock market went down, was good for us.
What does it mean by 'better off'? More money? A better job? Better relationships? I have less money but stronger relationships and more free time so I would say I'm better off.
No at all. Got married early this year and am already missing the days when I was single. From my 'Okozukai, I can't even afford a to take my car for a cool wash. I have to ration my beers....I have to negotiate for my freedom... Oh no! its just getting worse.
The Taka's have been very fortunate this year. Financially we are about the same but our children have had the opportunity to really experience all America has to offer. From soccer tournaments in 3 different states to horseback riding and violin lessons, our kids have really had a rocking time here in the nifty fifty.
So I guess when my biggest complaint is I'm too busy from doing a job I believe in and spending time with my children, life ain't so bad.
all around about the same, the veggie garden this year kicked butt, freezer is full of tomato sauce & ketchup& a ton of peanuts to go with my winter brewskies! Next year looks to be busy so far so hopefully will keep outta trouble.
Profesor, man you need to lay the law down or yr life is going to become more of a grind as the years pass! Its good to be frugal & everything & save, but if the Mrs is making beg just to buy a few brews or get yr car washed you had better fix it now otherwise if you have kids you cud be stuck in a real bad situation, seriously.
Once I stopped basing my exhistance on money, life got better. In 2009 I quit a good paying job that was destroying me emotionally. I now make much less, yet we survive. More importantly, I have a beautiful wife and two amazing children, who I spend more time with now than ever. Yeah, I`m better off now than last year.

Unagi JR and the missus are fine and the job pays more, however I need to work much more and be away from home more, so on balance things are better!
