South Korea uses French technology, China uses German maglev technology, but it also uses high speed trains from Europe and Japan, including the CH2, which is just a modified JREast E2 series Shinkansen, Taiwan uses a modified JRCentral/JRWest 700 Series Shinkansen with a different nose.
Technology-wise, European trains are faster than Japanese trains. Service-wise, the Japanese beat the Westerners to a pulp (as in most service-related areas).
I agree, Europe has the fastest trains but Japan has the better Infrastructure to use the High-Speed Train efficiently....
The Europeans has the fastest trains but cannot really use it efficiently because they don't have the Infrastucture in place.
Ok to make it simple. Japan have 100% separate Tracks for the Bullet Train from point A to point B, which Europe Trains do not have.
it's silly to put america on this list, but we all know what it is for, which is too bad to have global lefties make themselves feel good. in saying that america does have one high speed rail line, the acela. it clips along at 240 kph.
north america is ripe for high speed rail. what's so surprising is that back in the heyday of locomotives canada and america had the makings then something happened, the automobile, and so the oil and car makers got a foothold in washington and to a lesser extent ottawa thus having the north americans shooting themselves in the foot.
the japanese have a done superb job with their entire rail system even though I personally dislike the shinkansen it is very useful and serves the people very well.
After taking the Acela to New York I would have to say the US wins hands down. Best ride, best level of service. Just like US cars, US trains are best in the world. A pinnacle none else may ever reach!
