A meeting between the prime minister and a specific organization may cause misunderstanding in terms of fairness and transparency.

Edano, Misunderstanding about what??? Noda would be meeting with them to discuss issues related to them. Fairness??? Simply meet with all legitimate organizations that have gained respect from citizens and the media. It's what he and all government officials should be doing anyway. Transparency??? What better way is there to be transparent???

Edano just doesn't want this because it would show more government transparency and because it would set a precedent. Something that the prime minister's office should have been doing for years.

    Edano, Misunderstanding about what???

I think what he's referring to is that if any ONE group gets to meet with the PM, then ALL groups should get to meet with them. He shouldn't be able to cherry pick which PRIVATE groups he meets with, at least in the opinion of Edano.

The PM is, after all, supposed to serve the interests of ALL the people, not just select groups he agrees with.

It's up to each individual group to sway public opinion, so THAT in turn influences the PM's decision making.

This is the most opaque example of transparency I've seen in a long time.
