quote of the day

Although this is another country's election, Japan's allies should raise their voices to help prevent the birth of a 'Voldemort' president in the United States.

Like Trump could do a worse job than Abe, or the rest of the world's leaders, who have been looting their national economies for the benefit of themselves and their friends. Much as I don't like Trump, I love how he has the permanent political establishment up in arms. That enough is enough to make me vote for Trump.

Sangetsu03. As much as I dislike many of the world's leaders it is not hard to image Trump doing worst. Not hard at all.

Voting for Trump to show unhappiness over the establishment is like driving your car into a wall to piss off your parents for grounding you. It is self destructive and outright daft!

Trump as a proto-fascist populist is only part of the problem, the precedent his election to office would set could pave the way for even more extreme authoritarians who are actually true fascists by setting that insane bar so far away from what we need in office.

Trump will likely break our economy, alienate our allies, take us to war and more just so a few pissed off people can act out against the establishment. This sounds like high school thinking not rational political thinking.

I deeply dislike Hilary, but at least she does not make things worst if she is elected. On the contrary, she buys us time for the much more liberal and open minded younger generation to gain more capacity to influence the next presidency.

If you are a working class person and you vote for Trump, it is the practical equivalent of slamming your head in a doorway hoping to make your working family better off.

I'm Canadian, so to me the American election is both important and not my business at the same time. But my opinion is that it is WAAAAAY out of place for a non-citizen of one country to call for action either for or against a candidate for another country's top position. I would've been pretty livid if say the Guardian called for action by England's "allies" to prevent Trudeau from being elected (as disappointing as he has been so far).

Oh and grown adults throwing around HP references is super lame

That's pretty hypocritical considering that Japan refuses to allow its foreign resident population to vote. Now THEY want to meddle in another country's elections???

Voldemort

First of all what is it?

Second, give me a break. It is none of his business, and he should take a look in his own backyard first.

Americans have the right to vote and the right not to vote for whomever they please whether they know the voting records and history of those running, not able to read or write, r tarded or genius.

We are already heading toward "worst", and Hillary has been one of the captains of the team which has been steering the ship to disaster. We can't afford another 4 or 8 years of incapable leadership, economic mismanagement, and the selling out of the private sector. The suburbs around Washington are now far richer than the suburbs around Silicon Valley, and this wealth has been milked out of the taxpayers.

Would Trump be a disaster? Our last two presidents, agree or not, have been disasters; one more likely won't make as much of a difference as people might fear. On the positive side, disaster of some sort appears inevitable as politicians are pawning the livelihoods of future generations to buy votes and enrich themselves. If Trump is as bad as some people think, the disaster, and recovery, will occur all the sooner.

And if Trump does poorly, his party will lose it's majorities in Congress, just as Obama did, and he will be reducing to playing golf, giving empty speeches, and otherwise doing nothing, just like Obama has.

Well, since Trump hates all foreigners, I wonder how he can even imagine becoming the Head of an Indian nation ?

Sorry, but that's democracy for you.

Everyone has the right to have an opinion on the election, even foreigners. And Americans have the right to consider or not consider all such opinions before deciding.

Personally I often find it useful to listen to "elite" European opinion and then do the opposite - for example in the Carter/Reagan or Bush/Dukakis elections.

Ditto for Americans and other nationalities about Japan, etc elections.
