Buddha statues have an air about them that almost enables you to tell them things that you can't tell people. Perhaps it's because we're looking for some form of healing out there amid the turbulent waters of society.

Hiromi Tanaka, an illustrator. An increasing number of women in their 30s and 40s have become fascinated by statues of Buddha, posting blogs detailing their visits to temples to see Buddha statues, and tuning in to TV talk shows on the subject. (Yomiuri Shimbun)

    Nothing wrong with admiring statues of Buddha. I like to go see them myself here and there. But a statue of Buddha is the only partner you have to discuss your problems? That is a social problems.
