Education has become a merchandise. Customers are 'god' at department stores with buyers having absolute superiority over sellers -- and in schools, parents are the buyers.

Education critic Naoki Ogi, referring to “monster parents,” whose outrageous demands have driven teachers’ stress levels to record heights and led the Tokyo city government to publish a handbook on tips to cope with them. (AFP)

Damn right, its a merchandise! Good thing parents are actually defending their children's rights against abusive school systems!

Helloooo. Of course, it is merchandise. The schools are also charging outrageous fees. Time will come when few people will be able to afford to give their children good education.

Think you guys are missing the point on this one.

I have talked to several teachers about this monster parent thing. Seems to me its just another example of bullying, this time from the parents.

Monster parents will call the teacher at home five nights a weeks and want to talk for two hours. Parents will demand their teacher meet the student outside of class off school campus. Parents will demand their child get a good grade, even if it is not earned.

And the schools will not back up the teachers to say "no" to any of it...because they dont want any confrontation.

    Bizzare.
