He just reiterated his usual phrases, such as ‘to protect lives of the citizens.’ He is making fools of us.

No Kazue, you are the fool. It is beyond ridiculous to have a mutual defense pact (such as the one Japan has with the USA) if your signature on the document means nothing. Under Article 9 Japan was literally prevented from doing something as simple as shooting down missiles that targeted their allies.
Too many people just want to bury their heads in the sand and pretend that we don't live in the sort of world that we do ... you know, the sort of world where nutjobs crash planes into buildings and shoot down civilian aircraft full of innocents. One needs to have a full array of options available to defend oneself. Given the current political climate and the belligerence of the PRC, Abe would be derelict in his duty if he did not lay the groundwork to allow Japan to adequately defend herself and defend her allies.

A wise woman indeed.

A very wise woman. There are millions more in Japan who see through Abe. The protection racket is an old militarist scam.

@Hidingout: You mean the kind of world where a powerful nation's foreign policy strips others of raw materials, divides their populations, removes elected officials, bombs them and tells them what to do, 'Or else'?

Oh, I don't think you need his help to make you look the fool.
