Hibakusha have grown old, so I had thought this year would be almost the last chance for us to receive the prize.

Japanese are the best victims of the world. They should get a prize or something.
Sensato
I think the Hibakusha as a group would be highly deserving of the Nobel prize if they were also to collectively voice strong sentiment against the suffering caused by Japan to its Asian neighbors during the war, and also particularly against denialism of Japan's atrocities by the GOJ and other segments of Japanese society (in addition to conveying the message of their own suffering).
However, the Hibakusha have not done this, and as a result have unwittingly helped fuel the fires of Japanese victimization, denialism and growing nationalism.
Kabukilover
The Hibakusha have their uses for the LDP - rightwing business of denying the Japanese Asian Holocaust. You see them and their supports on NHK going about the noble business of trying to ban nuclear weapons (which successive Japanese governments have not shown interest in). But the real reason they are given this publicity is to support the lie that Japan was the worst victim of WWII. Or the only true victim.
There are hibakusha who blame the Hirohito regime for their suffering. But you will not see them on NHK.
There is no Nobel Prize for suffering. If there was it should have gone to the victims of the Nazi Holocaust. But there are other candidates as well.
