The media has a right to cause an "uproar" over Hara's 100 million yen payout to blackmailers. It was reported in some of the media that these blackmailers had mob ties. And gangsters involved with a person in baseball (or in any sport) could lead to other things ... such as fixed games (to placate the yak gamblers, etc.).
Sports people have to be careful when dealing with gangsters ... and it is in the media's interest to keep sports as clean as possible. Sorry Hara-san, but a "media uproar" is vital in such incidents ...
