Great idea.

Saw a program on this the other day. Well equiipped workshops (I saw power tools, lathes, bandsaws etc) available for a few thousand yen a day rental fee. Pay a bit more for professional tuition / advice and also they run courses starting from scratch.

People were building furniture - tables, chairs etc and some were working on plastics and metal projects.

Hope one opens in my area soon.

Agreed, a good idea. If members of the public were able to buy into shared ownership of the tools and space, it would almost be like a return of medieval guilds.
