There must be an election coming soon. Pre-election is the only time he says this. And he can't say what he has Done in the past because he hasn't done anything.

Unfair! He is wearing the blue ribbon, and, and, and

The LDP knew all about the abductions back in the 1980s when they were happening but did nothing about it at the time, and actually covered them up. For Shinzo to claim the moral high ground here, while having achieved nothing at all, is an insult to the families still living in hope of seeing their lost relatives return.

Who is really left to be returned? Megumi Yokota is claimed to have died and her remains returned, but the Japanese government botched the DNA testing with inconclusive results. The other missing people have either been returned alive, claimed to have died in North Korea, or claimed to have never been abducted in the first place.

The fact that North Korea has taken responsibility for many of the missing and even returned a few makes me think the ones that have not been returned are either dead as claimed or don't want to return. Hard to blame them when their own country did nothing to get them back for decades.

Either way, the LDP who has been in charge for essentially all of the post-war era is responsible for the issue being unresolved. I agree with Lloyd Weems and others, and for the LDP to use the issue as a platform is insulting.

Poor family its true but this is really a vanishingly small issue as against the real problems facing Japan.

Work? To quote the wise sage Inigo Montoya: "You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means."

I will do all I can, though I can do nothing ... so he can't be called a liar on this one.

Low abe, real LOW! But hey they use 3/11, used abductee's relatives for decades, lie & cheat to get the 2020 Olympics, continue to nothing to solve the many many problems/issues facing Japan...................

Just business as usual, the rot continues but can enough locals smell the stench.....
