Dont worry, piracy already did it. I think that 5 cm per second is one of the most pirated anime movies, is so popular that it have several fan translations.

So sad that comics seem to be the only idea left the Japanese government has to try and connect with the outside world. "Internationalization" has been reduced to clueless Oyajis reaching out to nerds with a lolita complex.
