Japanese leaders have done nothing to increase immigration, nothing to ease the strain on working mothers and nothing to change a work-obsessed culture that keeps many young couples from having children.

Sadako Ogata, 81, who heads the Japan International Cooperation Agency. She says Japan has no leaders far-sighted enough to deal with the country’s demographic crisis. Japan has the world’s oldest population and is projected to lose up to 70% of its workforce by 2050. (Washington Post)

    I wish this women was PM. Seems she knows what is going wrong with Japan. Shame the 81 year old men in the diet don't.

    does she tell it like it is or what. yes, i agree. she SHOULD be PM!!!!! i truly wish she had a place in government.
