Those sort of magazines come and go just like the fashion trends. Teens are not big buyers since they don't have as much disposable income as the OLs and women in their 30s, 40s and 50s who spend millions of yen on brand-name fashions.

Yes, Japan is unique in having fashion-conscious women and many women's magazines. Now let's talk about the unique intestine length, different snow and Japan's four (count 'em!) seasons.

Nessie: ha yeh, I actually get asked if NewZealand has 4 seasons all the time. I just tell them we live in perpetual darkness and sub zero temperatures in winter and then in summer...spf+3000 I dont know about America, but I used to think girls back home were shallow and materialistic, but then I got here. Thank god they arent all like that though. Mind you I dont mind if they keep on looking good either.

    "Japanese women in their teens..."

    Exactly at what age does a girl become a woman? 19? 18? 17? 16?

"... and 20s are so avid about looking good"

I wonder if that has anything to do with the fact that there are an awful lot of good-looking Japanese women!
