More toilets are needed, but the cost of constructing them will be too much for mountain lodges and local governments.

Yoichi Inoue, the head of the Mt Fuji Yoshidaguchi Ryokan Kumiai association. The central government gives subsidies to private mountain lodges and local governments to build and maintain toilets in national and quasi-national parks, but the Environment Ministry has decided to abolish the system for budgetary reasons.     I guess you got to do it the old fashioned way again...find a tree.

    Have fun finding a Tree or even a Bush after you get past Station No 6.

    Agree more toilets are needed, they were scarce when I did my climb many years ago and number of climbers has increased since than.

    @Zenny11-Congrats on the climb. I hope to do the climb in the near future. As for no trees or bushes, I don't mind. When nature calls, I will answer...in the open...if need be. LOL

    that shouldn't be a problem when there are still squat toilets available, just start digging holes on the ground...just as sanitary
