Ozawa is a necessary evil. He's weakened Fukuda, but the public sees him as a blocker of everything, not a ruler.

Tomoaki Iwai, a political science professor at Tokyo’s Nihon University, saying that Democratic Party of Japan leader Ichiro Ozawa may succeed in ousting Prime Minister Yasuo Fukuda, but would have a tough time convincing voters he would be a good PM. (Bloomberg)

And that, friends, is exactly why the DPJ will not -- I Repeat, WILL NOT -- oust the LDP from ruling the Lower House. Ozawa us too unpopular as a leader, and people I've spoken to have told me that the only word he seems to be able to say is , "No," and nothing else that even comes close to being constructive....

Ozawa is one of the most boring politicians in Japan. Bring back Koizumi. At least, he had personality, dancing with Richard Gere, riding a Segway, doing a Elvis dance etc.
