Russian doctors and nurses don't have enough sympathy toward patients. We want to 'import' this from Japan.
Quote of the Day ( 12 )
Svetlana Denisova, president of Hokuto, a local company established to run an imaging diagnostic center set up by a Japan-Russia partnership. It is scheduled to open this spring in Vladivostok in Russia’s Far East. (Yomiuri Shimbun)

Hmm, yes, start in a place with a low level and work yourself up.

They are in for a bit of a surprise. Should go to Thailand if they want goo and caring nurses.

Geez. The Russian bedside manner must be pretty shoddy if they're looking to Japan for good patient care. Tough love all around.

Sympathy: 1) The feeling of being sorry for someone who is in a bad situation and understanding how they feel. 2) Belief in or support for a plan, idea or action, especially a political one. 3) A feeling that you understand someone because you are similar to them.
Hmmm.

Everything is relative I guess!

LOL, a bunch of grumpy posters. I'm sure doctors and nurses in your home country are all perfect.
Why do so many people forget crappy aspects of their country ?

Worst place to start. I've been hospitalized in Japan for 2 months. They didn't even provide a proper bed for me. I had a back injury but i had to sleep kinda curled up because im taller than the bed. Food was atrocious. Rehabilitation was awful. Nurse told me to just use any machine I want. So which hospital did I use? Well I won't post the name but I can tell you it was a private hospital run by the police department.
The doctor was nice but the nurses were witches.
I guess they didn't like the fact that I ordered pizza and sushi delivery almost everyday.
I've heard that Cuba and Canada are the best when it comes to caring staff and doctors.

Thailand - the land of the perfect nurse. Not sure Japanese nurses are up there with the most sympathetic. Nice uniforms though.

@HideSuzuki.
It is good you have a conception of the perfect nurse or doctor, or at least assume that the posters here do. Perhaps that is what the posters are comparing bedside manner here with; an idea of perfection. They are not comparing with the situation in "their own countries". In fact, this is the comparison we often get sidetracked onto in debate in Japan by people like you. And your comment all-too-readily highlights that comparison with an ideal is something that is done badly here in Japan.
If the Russian lady who made the quote is looking to Japan for a perfect system she will be disappointed. If she is merely looking for something better than Russia then it reflects poorly on Russia. At least you can be thankful that service is better than Russia though.

Actually I have to say the staff at the maternity clinic we used for our crotchfruit were superb - (in Nakameguro). It was so great I keep wanting to go back there for a 3rd one....well, only after multlple beers. Time to get my tubes snipped.

My ex is from Tver, Russia (a city of 440,000 about 2 hours north of Moscow). The major hospital there leaves all the windows in the building open during the Summer because A/C is too expensive and inefficient for those old buildings. True story. We were walking by it and I asked her why this one huge building had all the windows open in the Summer.
