Seeing the prices driven down just because the cattle come from Fukushima Prefecture is frustrating.

I'm not an expert on radioactivity, but isn't the half-life of the contaminants longer than four years?

They should divide Fukushima into new prefectures, to separate regions inside or near the radiation plumes from those outside.
Even so, you cannot really trust agricultural organizations or governmental bureaucracies. The constituency-at-large are more like cattle to them. They'll mark off a certain number of deaths that are regrettable but to be expected, and how can the rest of us even trust those numbers to be accurate?
And that's talking pesticides, not radioactive isotopes!

The Gov should be buying these cattle and testing them. Should not be harvested for human consumption, but used as indicators to continually check the situation.

Only 10% less & your complaining!!! I would say your damned LUCKY!

There were multiple meltdowns at the plant in Fukushima which is still ongoing. Cancer rates in Fukushima are well above the national average. Vast swathes of Japan have been contaminated. Radioactive feed has been fed to cattle and the beef consumed as far away as Shikoku. Contaminated feed even made it to Shimane!
Maybe, Mr a umami needs to be aware if the above? If he were then he would begin to comprehend why people do not buy goods from Fukushima....

Personally, I believe humans can tolerate a lot more radiation than is written.
I keep buying Fukushima products. Especially the peaches in season. They are the best.
