Teachers should inform students of the fact that the security bills were passed and explain the merits and demerits of the legislation to get students to think about the issue.

Minoru Kihara, director of the LDP’s Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology Division, criticizing “politically biased” teachers. He said that only arguing for the abolishment of the Abe administration’s national security legislation was a clear departure from neutrality by some teachers. (Asahi Shimbun)

And teachers should explain that the students will be drafted to die overseas in US caused wars. Reality bites.

explain the merits and demerits of the legislation

Failure to see any merits = Thoughtcrime?

This is a misunderstanding of "education." Education is not about teachers explaining points, good and bad. It is about inculcating thinking skills. Students themselves learn to think through, explain/argue, different points of view. But this "education" system is not meant for that. Actually, it is a training system. It is deliberately created to discourage "education" and train students in mindlessness.

I agree. Both sides should be neutrally presented.

FOR the security bills - as Gokai indicated - let's take the first step towards military engagement and send soldiers overseas

AGAINST the security bills - let's NOT take the first steps toward military engagement and send soldiers overseas.

All teachers are politically biased in some way, whether they think so or not. And it is up to them to inform their students that this possibility exists, just as it does for anyone saying anything at all about policy. That way they might encourage doubt in students regarding political pronouncements and policy and the curiosity to think about and find out for themselves. But institutional agendas far exceed individual ones in the education system so it is content to put up with a few "biased" teachers rather than have them say point blank that education systems are politically biased and you should doubt what you learn and seek out what is omitted

I am totally against this. Religion and Politic,s should not be preach at school. During their last two years at high school books like Animal Farm can be read and study and debated. I do believe in a module on the way governments work on upper and lower houses, respecting ones right to vote, equality in life and the current environment policies of government.

Well, if the teachers are biased, then this only cancels out what kids learn by watching NHK news. LDP wants its cake and eat it.
