The problem of malpractice has received a lot of media coverage, and so patients have developed an excessive amount of mistrust toward hospitals.

Hiroshi Honda, vice director of the NPO Iryo Seido Kenkyukai (Medical System Research Group). He believes the increase in violence by patients toward doctors and nurses is a symptom of a widening rift between the medical system and the people it treats. (Weekly Playboy)
