The U.S. did a great job at deboning the Japanese until most have no spine, no guts and no strength left in them. They couldn't do much to my generation, but most younger Japanese are as weak as one can get.

I beg to differ with Mr. Suzuki: yes, the US DID do much to his generation! The US sank his generation's navy, shot down his generation's air force, and defeated his generation's army all across the Pacfici Theatre. Yes, the USA did do much to Mr. Suzuki's generation. And does Mr. Suzuki want to know a sad fact? In 1941, 67% of American citizens didn't want war with ANYone! We didn't want to tangle with Japan, didn't want to attack Germany, and didn't want to lock horns with Italy...........but when the leaders and military commanders of Mr. Suzuki's generation decided to bomb US Ships, destroy US Airplanes, and kill US Civilians and Military Personnel at Pearl Harbour, Public sentiment changed...

People such as Mr. Suzuki need to stop white-washing Japanese History from the first half of the 20th Century. Then, perhaps, those subsequent generations that Mr. Suzuki has decided to whine about may actually get a spine and some backbone....

Mr. Suzuki seems to be forgetful about what the US did to his generation - turned it around 180 degrees: from an emperor-worshipping, kamikaze-loving, everything-for-the-state dictatorship to a peaceful pseudo-democracy in less than five years. In less than a generation. People of his generation were the ones that ran Japan after the war and steered it toward the money (US). People of his generation were the ones that opted for kowtowing to the US; not the current generation which doesn't even know where the US is.

You don't have to be an old soldier to accuse the young of being soft and spineless. The oldies have been doing it since Socrates' time, probably before that too. He's an old man. He's lived a long time, seen a lot of things. Let him complain if he wants.

I like what he says about his wife - I simply adore her. Of course, I never pronounce this, but she feels it through my actions. We both make efforts to behave so that we never have to feel shame or regret. I always think of her parents, how much they loved her and wished her to be happy.
