This could set a dangerous precedent. The list could grow to include yellowfin and bigeye tuna, as well. If nothing is done, we won't have any tuna at Tsukiji fish market.

Um, what fish did you use way back when tuna wasn't around. These fish are not native to Japan so complaning about it being cultural and whatnot is just BS. Wake up Japan, you're the ones that caused this problem. Why not take a break, find another victim and let them breed so future generations can gorge on them? Oh right, thinking of the future...

Conservation of an endangered species? Or the fact that Japans fisherman, who hold much power in Japan, are powerless to stop the international community. They cannot threaten, or bully, the populations of other countries. Japan has wasted so much political capital on the Whale, and Dolphin slaughters, they now sit alone, with their tuna bones.

Its called a fish market, not Tuna market.
Japanese have so over fished their waters that Sardines in large sizes are gone. Nothing is done to conserve. Nets are placed to catch the babies, and no one cares. Fishing is like free money to these people, but in reality, they are stealing the future from the rest of the world.

The motion is to ban the export, not the domestic catch. Hence the Tsukiji market will not be affected. And with no import, prices will sky rock. Good for the fishermen. Unless there is not sufficient supply in the ocean around Japan.
