Using an appropriate manner when giving people their notice can ease the psychological burden on the person that has to tell them. The firer needs to try to reduce the sense of loss felt by the person being fired.

Nice how it's highlighted that fact that it's difficult to people who have been fired from foreign owned companies. Of course, we all know, Japanese are never fired from their jobs. Only those who are not full blooded Japanese lose their jobs.

I don't think this quote/story implied that in the slightest. It's not always helpful to jump up and down in sarcasm every time "foreign" is mentioned in a story and "Japanese" isn't. The story the quote is taken from is about the strain put on bosses faced with having to fire someone. And its no secret that foreign-owned financial companies have been among the most prominent and widespread "firers" in the world lately. If anything, this little anecdote about counseling employees of these companies gives this guy even more credibility.

Very true. Point taken.
But it does seems like another finger point at the evil foreign devils.

true, but personally i believe, cry about it that day - get over it - find a new job the next.. these days while we're having a small economic problem instead of anger, disillusionment, despair... get a good reason or at least a reason, accept it, move on. lol easier said then done i know, but really.. thats what people need to do. keywork 'need' ;]
Now the difficult part happens when they can't find a new job. Thats when they start getting more and more upset, knowing they may not or cant look after there families or themselves, is a burdon that will hurt alot of people... - Never give up! Keep looking, dont put yourself down stay positive! and if that means you have to have several part time jobs until things get better or you find a perm one, then thats what you need to do. some people give up without even trying, well that will get you nowhere, wont it? ;DD
