We are the people who can give you the best perspective on the horrors of nuclear weapons as we have lived through it and many of us have suffered numerous physical ailments over the last 62 years and lost loved ones in the blast.

Emiko Okoada, an atomic bomb survivor in Hiroshima, urging the G-8 leaders to visit Hiroshima when they come to Japan in July. (Japan Times)

Maybe she can also give some perspective on how the populace blindly supported brutal Japanese military agression which led to the atomic bomb

The fact that Japan started the war doesn't diminish the suffering of the atomic bomb victims. The average man or woman in Hiroshima or Nagasaki had as much to do with the war as I do with the war in Iraq it's not like they had a say. If you want to whine about the attack on Pearl cowardly though it may have been at least it was an attack against military personnel as opposed to an attack against civilians who happened to have military factories in the neighborhood. Emiko Okaoda is definitely more qualified than any of us to talk about the nuclear attacks and their aftermath.

Just another example of Japan portraying itself as victim. Nothing more, nothing less. Instead, Okaoda should speak about the dangers of an entire populace laying down for a bunch of warmongering leaders.
