After a nuclear accident that leaves land dangerous and uninhabitable, it is hardly the conclusion of a genius to assume that nuclear power generation and its consequences are unwanted....

"Mind" is not the right word. "Not paying attention" is more like it. "Not thinking at all" is probably closer to the truth.
I say, just get rid of MOX and all the other bad options, and just convert to Thorium. It isn't perfect, but I think its better than burning all these fossil fuels. All the solar panels going up are wonderful, but solar is not a perfect or total solution.
