You might think men who buy skin care products are a bit on the feminine side, but in fact, many of them are quite robust.

Koji Kobayashi, 23, who works at a cosmetics counter at a Shibuya department store. According to marketing research company Fuji-Keizai Group, men’s skin care products, such as face wash and lotion, are selling well (Daily Yomiuri)

Who said anything about being "feminine?" Vain and narcissistic are closer to the truth.

Isn't washing your face part of good hygiene? That said, I get the cheap stuff at Matsukiyo.

whats wrong with soap and water?as ben4short says, this does sound a bit narcissistic.when i hear that men are buying skin care products like lotions and face wash, i imagine vain, effeminate guys worrying about their sensitive skin and wondering which type of overpriced product to buy. either that or these guys have more money than sense to be buying this crap.if anyone remembers the opening scene to american psycho, youll get my point

Says who? A 23 year old salesman who's job depends on these "robust" boys.

Let me see, you have alpha men, beta men, these men must be somewhere down the line of zelpha men. Really now---skin care products. Come on! And to think I am a liberal! I agree with ben4short--vain and narcissitic is more like it. I buy the 140 yen shampoo and body soap at Nafco and it works quite fine.

What does he or the translator mean by 'robust', exactly? The reason I don't use soap is because I have eczematic skin and my face would become very taut and dry. I just use a simple facial scrub and then apply simple moisturizer. I don't spend more money than necessary. Never buy the expensive brands. There's a reason why some men end up with leathery looking skin.
