Young people just don't think that joining the SDF is one of the options for their future career, unlike becoming police officers or firefighters. We need to soften the image of the SDF as being rigid, severe and dangerous.

    mareo2 - Have to agree. Not such a bad idea to join the army. I think Japanese youth are beginning to lack discipline, similar to their western counterparts.

    But lord don't tell them that they may have to learn something and be held accountable for their decisions. That approach won't work on todays lazy kids. Maybe a Private Pickles manga or a catchy dance infomercial on TV.
