Good on you, Ishikawa. Now that THAT obstacle has finally been passed, you can focus on upping your game even more. Ignore the media, and work on your game.

Right you are smithinjapan. Just look at the great players who did not make the cut (Sergio Gracia and Davis Love III to mention two) and the players who scored the same a Ishikawa, Phil Mickleson and Freddie Couples (my all time favorite player). Ryo can gain some great experience from playing this weekend.

Ryo's got a decent start time tomorrow 8:52 with Sean O'Hair - who's a decent level headed guy and should be good for Ryo to play with...
O'Hair has won once this year and knows what it's like to gold young as he also turned pro in his second year of HS...
Looks like he's the last +4 guy to start - O'Hair's at +3...

smithinjapan -- absolutely. He's not going to contend, since he's 11 shots back. But, as techall says, the experience of playing all four rounds should be great for his development.

Agreed. I think making the cut was the most important thing, and how he plays after that won't matter as much -- this time around. Had he failed to make the cut, for example, that would have been shattering and probably affected his game very badly. I think we'll actually see him improve tomorrow, and next time making the cut won't be quite as stressful. I also think O'Hair's a decent guy to start off with, and hopefully they can work well of each other.
Anyway, good luck, Ishikawa.

congrats to him on making the cut!!! i am so happy. this country needs a nice looking young man to represent it and he`s great for the role.

A BIG congrats to Ishikawa - no mean feat at all. I hope he can improve on his score and raise a few eyebrows outside of Japan.
One thing I don't get though, is why media often refer to him as "schoolboy..."???
He's been a pro for 2 seasons. He won over a $1,000,000 on tour last year and receives unknown amounts in commercial deals. Just cut the schoolboy crap.
As I understand it in Japan no sports pro (in the highly paid sense) could attend school. And if he is enrolled, what a slight on the sloggers who actually have to attend lessons and study for exams. And if it's just a reference to his age, well then 17yr old Ishikawa is sufficient.

Good for him. Is it on TV anywhere? Can't seem to find it.
