It always surprises me that washed up players here think they can extend their careers by going to the MLB. Has the MLB diminished so far that any J-player can go and succeed? Of course not, but Okajima was surprisingly successful after being written off by the Giants, traded to Hokkaido Figthers and then becoming an All-Star reliever with Boston, albeit for only one year. Kuwata going at 39 after arm surgeries was a joke, and he never made it.
To be good, you must go in your prime. Maybe the 34-year old Takahashi feels its now or never, and he's up for an all-out commitment to his career. We'll see. Just don't expect any 4 year 20$M contract.

No, it's not a joke. I don't think he would be any good as a starter, but I bet he could be a solid situational reliever.

Abe too heavy to be exported to MLB and Takahashi is unlikely to be of any help even as a relief pitcher.
