Would anybody happen to have a link to a good picture of Ishihara upon hearing the winning city announced?

A pic where we can see some sign of a little heart breaking, or even just a tear forming, would be preferred.

this jerk owes a REAL apology to Rio, the world, Jpn & Tokyo

what an utter embarassment to the human race

  • frontandcentre at 01:19 PM JST - 7th October

Ishihara is old enough to well remember that Tokyo's had the Olympics before whereas the entire continent of South America NEVER has, let alone Brazil. What a totally sore loser he is, realising finally what a stupid waste of money it was for him to bid.

Or maybe he's just fed up because the Brazilians outsmarted him in the "invisible dynamics" game...

Over on JapanProbe the readers seem to be evenly split on this issue. Even Ishihara has his fans it seems!

  • NeoJamal at 01:43 PM JST - 7th October

and come on! Tokyo supported by Ishihara got more votes than Chicago actively endorsed by Obama and his wife, that's something Shinchan ought to be proud of..on the otherhand there will be many Tokyoites who will be seriously offended by that comparison.

Japanese visitors to the 2016 games in Rio had better learn to say " Ishihara? never heard of him"

  • Midnightpromise at 03:30 PM JST - 7th October

Japanese visitors to Rio better pre-order a armored car now. Rio is THE murder capital of the world, great choice for an Olympics Games.

  • Nessie at 03:36 PM JST - 7th October

also called for an official apology from Ishihara

Ishihara will refuse. Tokyo won't get future Olympics. Ishihara will blame it on foreigners, get re-elected. Everyone wins.

Ishihara is cutting his own throat on this.

After slagging off the IOC over the Olympic Vote and then slagging off Brazil, there won't be many places that he can visit anymore on his infamous "fact-finding" tours, the most outrageous of which was the Galapagos Islands.

Then again, Brazil might just sit on its hands until 2016, and then decide to start fingerprinting/photographing Japanese visitors to the country. Just call it payback for all the injustices carried out against Brazilians in this country. To drive home the point a little harder, they might even name such actions the "Ishihara Initiative"

I saw a news item and I think it show the IOC website with comments about Ishihara's comments. If I had the link I would post it. Maybe someone can?

  • Sarge at 07:22 PM JST - 7th October

Hey, what about the Brazilian president's comment that he wanted to thank the Japanese prime minister but since you say good morning to one Japanese prime minister and good afternoon to another... tee hee!

  • isthistheend at 10:42 AM JST - 8th October

While Ishihara says the other guys bribed better than he, the DJP politician blames Keidanren for suicides increase in japan. Love all the freedom of speech they have here.

  • memyselfI at 05:13 PM JST - 8th October

ishihara represents the people of Tokyo. Let's be realistic here, there are alot of Japanese people who think like him. And will continue to support him until he can't walk anymore. Does he understand Olympics ? Bringing all people of color together, it seems to me he really doesn't like France and Africa. People support him and will continue to support a racist clown like him. He is just a small piece of the machine of racism.

  • ptolemy at 10:55 PM JST - 8th October

An adviser to Rio de Janeiro’s successful run for the 2016 Summer Olympics slammed Tokyo Gov Shintaro Ishihara on Tuesday.

    Leeeeet's get ready to rummmbleee!

My money is on the Brazilian. Shinkun too old and slow.

  • kwatt at 12:38 AM JST - 12th October

I think Mr. Ishihara is really a bad loser. IOC decided Rio Olympics in 2016. All people should respect the decision. As far as I know majority of Japanese people do not want Olympics in Tokyo in 2016 and they were not disappointed about the failure except Ishihara.
