Watched the match with my father. She played skillfully and with consistency, and after struggling initally on the LPGA she's finally broken thru.

Well deserved. By all accounts she has worked very hard to raise her game to that necessary to consistently win on the LPGA tour. And, she is said to still be extremely well-liked by the other players. I hope she can come through in a major in the near future as well.

Ai-chan rocks! If only we didn't have to hear any more about Ishikawa Ryo in the media until he's accomplished the same thing as her...

Ai-chan is the first Japanese to be ranked #1 in golf, man or woman.
She is doing very well, and is much adored on the LPGA circuit.

I think from here if she continues winning the media will be following her more closely.

She won $225,000 for winning this event!

Ai is from Higashi Village in northern Okinawa, a true village with less than 1900 residents. The village has been famous for its lush jungle, the impressive azalea gardens, the largest dam and resevoir in Okinawa, and the biggest mangroves of Okinawa.

Now it is famous for Ai-chan too!

She's a sweetie. She drives me to putty in her own fairway.

I am really happy about this. The media finally is leaving her alone, and I think that is what is allowing her to play her game. If Japan's press would just back-off of Ishikawa, he might be able to win a few tournaments in the States too. Congratulations Ai-chan.

"congrats ai-chan. i think she is decently cute with a nice bust for being japanese." "I think she is sexy too goddog. Nice smile and nice proportions for me!" "She is hot too. I checked her out on the news."

    Such classy comments...lol.

Hahahaha, she might be hot for some. But not me.

For women's golf, she is definitely hot. Not to be sexist, but thank whatever god you pray to for Japanese and Korean girls in the sport. Otherwise, there would be no reason to watch such a hum-drum, boring-ass sport. Good luck Ai-chan. Keep playing well.

I'm impressed. She's reached ichiban status in the LPGA only a year after winning her first LPGA match. That speaks for a very consistant game - even when she does not win the match outright.

Marcels, the number-one ranking is based on the total earnings for the year, not how many majors have been won. If Majors were the metric, then Tiger would still be ichiban in the PGA even though he's been out and/or off his game this year.

Too bad nobody pays attention to women's golf....

The top female golf world ranking has become wide open ever since Lorena Ochoa began winding down to her retirement. The ranking is based on points earned in the latest 12 months.

In men's world ranking, Tiger Woods is still #1.

lostrune2...I may be wrong but pretty sure Tiger Woods is no longer #1. Im a huge Tiger Woods fan, but even if he is still #1 is doesnt deserve to be for at least the time being.

Ai chan is really playing great and I expect her to win a major soon.
