"Skip" makes it sound like HE decided. He didn't. He's being benched. Call it what it is please.
**He has a lot of pride... **
Hahahaha! When is that ever a good thing to have said about someone?

From the article, it seems the manager is the one who used the word skip, so I don't think he's being benched. 10-5 is pretty good in the MLB. I really think the high pride comment by Nolan is a compliment too...Darvish has pitched a lot of innings so they probably just want to rest him.

Darvish's 10-5 is pretty good for team that scores alot of runs, but at 3.59 era and giving up 9 home runs is just average. I would pick Jarrod Parker from the A's over Darvish at this point. Parker has 2.46 era and has just only given up 3 home runs. Parker is consistant in keeping ball down and throwing strikes and getting ahead of the hitter.

Then why does he average 1 walk per 2 innings?

Maybe Manager Washingtion is thinking further down the road. He wants to win the all-star game because the winner gets the home field advantage in the World Series. Maybe he is hopeful to be there again this year. I'm glad that Darvish is having a good season so far. The most under-rated J-pitcher is Kuroda. 5 years in the league, a losing record but never an ERA over 4, (3.76 his highest). Btw, did Ichiro get voted in?

All star game.... All about selling tickets and jerseys. Darvish shouldn't be there. He has said so himself.

Ichiro wasn't even on the Last 5 vote list. He hasn't done enough to be considered for All-Star.
