Congrats to Ando, and a good job by Asada as well (glad she didn't melt down this competition). Best of luck in the World's!

Asada is right -it is all about focus. These two are becoming professional athletes and should be commended on their focus and drive. By helping each other they should be able to even focus harder on this sports top prize that has eluded them both.
Ando is maybe the more obvious example of this. Unbelievable jumping and spinning talent -but didn't always mentally focus herself. Working around the injuries will always be part of that focus also -these two are both healthy now mentally and physically.

It seems Asada is happy with herself once again. Without happiness it is hard to be successful -this is a big turnaround for her.

since JT gave us the BIG pic from pic of the day, I won't complain about this small pic. But still.................
a big pic would be nice since Ando's smile is sooooooooooooooooooooooo sweet

Congrats to Miki, Mao looks amazingly happy being as how she lost to Miki, and where is Queen Yu Na? Did she retire already?

I was quite disappointed with the arrogance of Mirai Nagasu, a girl representing USA. She competed for the USA but obviously did not feel American at all. She said that she was happy for beating the 2 American girls as it was her goal because it was her who should have been chosen for the World Championships, neither Rachael Flatt nor Alissa Czisny. If she does not feel a member of the American team, why does she compete for the USA, she could come back to Japan and be in one team with Ando and Asada, then let us see if she would be ever able to make the world championships team.
I think Asada did very well in the long program, after her tripple axel I thought she would win the competition. Obviously at this moment the judges prefer Ando to Asada. I do not understand the details of this sport, maybe Asada has some problems with other elements of her program.

I prefer Ando to Asada too.
Love: "I do not understand the details of this sport"
Don't even try, Love, the judges give points based soley on their whim. How else can the awarding of the gold medal last year to Queen Yu Na and Miki, even with her dazzling Cleopatra performance, coming in 4th, be explained?

LoveUSA.
Don't list to Sarge. :)
The skating is mostly technical, look at the triple axle even if the jump and spin is good if the skate lands at the wrong angle to the angle at beginning of the jump = low score. And so on.
So a fall can actually result in less points deducted than a compulsory jump being badly executed or landed.
Of course there is a degree of favoritism by some judges towards skaters of their country(CoughChinaCough, CoughRussiaCough, etc).

He lives under the spell of Miki Ando and so it is understadable that he is prone to overlook her mistakes or the merits of the other skaters but everybody has his own favourites. Miki Ando has become very expressive and mature so I understand his adoration. I do not understand what he has against Yuna, at the Olympics she outperformed everyone.
Same as you Sarge, you also give best points to the people you like.

Love, Yuna outperformed Miki at the Olympics in the minds of the judges and others, including you, who liked her 007 style, but not in my mind, I enjoyed Miki's performance much more than Yuna's. Yuna was smooth, so smooth she nearly put me to sleep. Miki was way more expressive.
