Props to Team Japan! Great showing. Altho Kim Yuna skipped 4CC, it was not to train for worlds. She was unable to attend 4CC because the timing conflicted with her long term commitment to help host and support the Special Olympic Winter Games in PyeongChang, South Korea, 29 January to 5 February 2013. She also recruited long time Spec Olympics supporter Michelle Kwan away from Michelle's honeymoon (Michelle married on Jan 19 in Rhode Island) to skate exhibitions with Kim. They brought much needed celebrity attention and exposure to the beneficiaries of these games.

Good on the ladies, and Asada in particular. I think the title should be "Japan LADIES' Sweep", since the men did anything but, but oh well.
Kim had better be up to snuff for the (very boring city of) London, Ontario, or she's going to be used by Asada to mop the floor.

All the women are from Aichi, too. I certainly wish Mao-chan well but if she lacks anything in her performance I would say it's her mental toughness. She skates well when the field is weak but doesn't always have her best when she has a tough competitor like Kim. Talent-wise, too close to call. Mental toughness, I give the advantage to Kim. It will be interesting to see how well Kim skates after 2 years away from competition, but I hardly expect her to be the mop.
