I preferred Muramoto's performance. It looked like Murakami was doing mistakes on purpose at the beginning. Congrats to Mao.

Too bad Kanako Murakami had to fall down and err a couple of other times. I'd like to have seen her win. But then the Japan Skating Federation would have been in a bind. They don't really want to see her leading the team. They are now comfortable with Mao at the helm. Mao looked good in her slimmed down body, but she was really shaky on some of her routines. I tought the "juniors" looked really good, and with the proper training and support, these kiddies should be the future stars of Japan's women's skating team.

I'm glad Japan's performance in figure skating on the whole has and continues to give them quite a few medals and other nations some good competition. I'm not sure Mao is the best choice for the helm, but best of luck to her and all the others all the same.

Mao is one of those skaters who does not have to come to a near stop to execute her triI lple loops. This time, again, her routine was very smooth. It was clear to everyone that her last jump did not come off the ground, but overall her performance was brilliant.
I liked Kanako's performance a lot, too. And the way she smiled and laughed away her imperfections. Looks like a promising skater.

Sorry about the typos. Please read this as "Mao is one of those skaters who does not need to come to a near stop to execute her triple loops".

I love women skaters here. So graceful and lovely bodies.

I agree, Mao-chyan is one of the more graceful and technically advanced female skaters... a true pleasure to behold and I would say she is the right person to lead the team, that is, if she can handle the pressure. Remember she couldn't go toe-to-toe with Kim-Yona... she totally fell apart at the Olympics while Kim just kept on cruising. It's too bad Kim decided to go Pro, but then again she had already destroyed the competition. Best wishes to Mao-chyan!

presto: "This time, again, her routine was very smooth."
While I've not seen a lot of her performances, the ones I HAVE seen were not as smooth as other skaters at all -- in fact, she appeared quite nervous and some of the moves stilted. There are far more graceful skaters on the ice, but she's got time to learn.

Happy to see her skating well again, especially after her recent tragic loss. Looking forward to next year's Worlds.
Ganbare, Mao-chan! Ouensuru!
