A fools comparison, celebrate the women's game for it's diverse individual strengths.

Hmmmm.. seems to me like so did the Engalnd team as well as the U.S.

Always a stupid comparison. Men's soccer has been in play for a hell of a lot longer, with European teams and others dominating for decades before Asia even stepped in. The Asian teams do not COMPARE in the mens' league, and that's not because the Asian men are bad -- it's just that they don't have the history and the ingrained skill that has developed over the ages. Women's soccer started all at once, with the groups being the same as the men's, which had developed over time. There's a reason why if the men draw Brazil and England in the same group there is a collective sigh across the nation but if the women do it doesn't matter. And if you want to get right down to specifics, Japan has had some pretty lack-luster games in the women's tournament thus far, and even with the playing field being more level for the women on the whole, they got an easy draw in the group round, and have been given easier teams until England -- who literally handed them the game with the own-goal.

If you want to talk about LUCK, then, then yes they outshine the men by sheer volume of horseshoes up the behind. And who knows, maybe they WOULD beat the men in a match, but the fact that they have gotten a better result in the WC means absolutely nothing so long as the playing fields differ so much.

So tired of the idiotic comparison.

Well Japan women are certainly "LUCKIER" than the useless Canadians who have never won anything, whether be it in men or women's categories.

And who cares about the CONCACAF?

And lots the European football experts, i.e. people who understand football do agree that Japan men have come a long way in the game and for sure will be a power to recon with in years to come.

Why would the South American Football Confederation want Japan to make a PERMANENT SWITCH to their side of the world if they didn't think Japan football did not have potential?

Not just an Asian phenomenon. Similar articles have been written this week here in the U.S.

I guess I'm the only one who thinks that women's soccer is the equivalent of the para Olympics, sure they deserve recognition and sure they work hard....and yeah it's mildly entertaining like watching a grand derby with ponies....I watched a few games but I really didn't see a thing to get so excited about...if a player of the English team made a own goal in extra time hell would break loose, but in case of women's soccer it's written off as an unfortunate accident. Sure you can enjoy women's soccer in its own right, don't compare it to the pros.

Silly article. The same could be written about just about any other region in the world.

Perhaps FIFA Africa, Asia, Europe, and North and South America should think about scheduling occasional matchups pitting national men's vs. women's teams. It'd be interesting to see some "battle of the sexes" soccer games.

@Texas. LoL, that would interesting to see. Wonder if US women's soccer could bag Samurai Blue.
