Ireland should win all its games in this pool which will mean australia will face south africa.

Was closer than I thought it would be. ;-)
The quarterfinal between Australia and South Africa will most likely be a similar score.

Few worrying moments in the first half, but the fitter team came out on top.
Now to hope for a big Russian or Italian upset on you know who...

Wallabies are a poor team - not capable of winning this tourney. We have poor halves, tiny Papuan Genia and Kiwi-reject Cooper are not exactly world class. Our obese forwards are garbage. It will be amazing if we beat South Africa in the QF to be honest.... Kiwis will win this tournament - call it off now!

67-5, eh? What a beating, ha ha!

@ Serrano - as an Aussie, I will say it was a good performance from the Yanks. They played real good in the first half and should be encouraged. Wouldn't call it a "beating". Probably the same as us losing 3-1 to the Yanks in baseball...

Burakumin - If that was a good performance from the Yanks, I'd hate to see a bad performance, ha ha!

Bit harsh there, Serrano! The American players were competing with us for the first half hour, and scored a great try off the scrum - some of them are amateur players, whilst the Aussies are overpaid prima-donnas who most Aussie sports fans don't even know or give a damn about (Quade Cooper being the best example). The Yanks are a decent team as seen in holding the Irish to a 12 point win.

It was 11 tries to 1 actually, not 10 to 1 I believe. BDes, that's a bit rough. If they do win the Cup, how will you justify it? A fluke?! They can do it with a bit of teamwork, skill and luck (balls bouncing the right way etc.). I'd never write off the Aussies in any sport, especially rugby.

The US has a Rugby team??? .... just googled, yeah, apparently some bored college kids made a team, lol Maybe if they aired Rugby on American TV, someone would watch it and gather interest. They are WAY too into football now to care about Rugby though.

Any info about injury to Fainanga (sp)? That looked pretty serious! And lots of others are out or were just resting... It`s a long tournament, so the teams with the most depth will survive.

What rubbish. With Berrick Barnes coming back in as he did last night, pair him with Ashley Cooper and it starts to look like a very scary unit. Not world class? You dont win the tri-nations with duds mate.
Kiwi reject Cooper? He has been playing in Australia since he was 12 years old.
Write the tournament off now? Never underestimate the kiwis ability to fall over their own feet.
You must have been to the Sergeant Schultz school of rugby - You Know Nussink!

calm down
I wouldn't be taking any notice of the form of the top teams, dont get many indicators on how well youre going by flogging sides that have no right being there..factor in the expected AB choke and the Boks,Wallabies and French are right in this !

Yes, I think so. As an American, I am really excited by the WC and the sport. After all, the roots of American football goes back to rugby and basically evolved from the sport to what we have in the U.S. today. It's still a tackle sport, played a bit different, but still is a very exciting sport if you give it a chance. But for many Aussies, they think wearing gear is for pansies and for many Americans the game really makes no sense, They are essentially two different sports and should be put into their proper context and be given each their proper respect. Many Aussies that I have met in the states after awhile living there grew to love NFL and the same vice versa. I think both countries should try to be openminded about both sports. After all, they are both manly sports where you tackle your opponents. A male version of ballet and any REAL man can appreciate that. After being in Japan for the last 10 years, got to see more coverage from the sport on TV and I have to say, it can (rugby) become quite addictive. And I do hope that the U.S. gets better and that they can do better the next round, it seems the U.S. team really want to make strides and that to me is all that matters. Don't care really if they won or not, but this can influence the next generation and who knows, the U.S. could be a force to reckon with. Just like, it would be nice if the NFL would be more internationalized, I think Aussies too, could do VERY well in the sport.
