Beijing Olympic champ Wanjiru pulls out of Sapporo half marathon

TOKYO —

Beijing Olympic men’s marathon gold medalist and half marathon world record holder Samuel Wanjiru has pulled out of Sunday’s Sapporo International Half Marathon, his Japanese sponsor said Wednesday.
   
Wanjiru, who won the London Marathon in April, was set to headline the Sapporo race but the Kenyan has decided to scrap his trip to Japan due to fatigue.
