“When they came here, with Beckham, Prince William, and the Prime Minister (David) Cameron, they were sure of winning,”

Most probably because England had by far the best technical bid, and were only defeated on the grounds of money. Why would any sane member vote for Russia and Qatar? Blatter's comment that England 'were sure of winning' has a somewhat sinister and ironic tone. As if he was insulted that someone could be so confident of such a good bid without recognising Blatter's system of bribery winning World Cup bids.

An institution that saves lives, that helps people

?? By awarding the World Cup finals to the two richest oil producers. Russia (blatant right wing racism within their league in a country governed by the mafia) and to Qatar (where homosexuality is illegal and where women do not have any rights).

Tigerstokyodome - also worth mentioning Blatter and FIFA denied England the world cup mostly because the British press, unlike their continental counterparts, have been the only ones exposing the corruption going on in FIFA.

You can't improve the IMAGE of an organization without actually improving the organization first, Blatter. Obviously that would start by you stepping down, but alas.

The first step would be to realize that you are part of the problem, Mr. Blatter.
