    Frankly, Brazil won't be ready for 2014. Miinister keep saying that "everything will be ready in time", while the media and population have a sense that they will lose face when the time come. Porto Alegre, one of the richeste and most organized cities in Brazil, with a strong Slavic culture, opened a new stadium last week promising a new era in soccer. It was a shame, a German team was invited for the grand opening. They didn't have water for showering, as the "new era" came.

    There's a current joke on Facebook that illustrates well how Brazilians perceive their government: "NOTICE: The end of the world in 2012 was cancelled in Brazil, because the country is not prepared for such a big event".

    Every single country, and particular those from the third world, like South Africa, has made a few people very, very rich but not the country, which means is costtheir people millions over millions, which would have urgently been needed for education, health and infrastructure.

    I have to admit that there is an excellent chance for Brazil to join that distinguished clubl....

    Volland: at least South Africa had England backing the organization. And while it was not perfect, it was much more than expected from a third-world country. Brazil will host the most expensive WC ever, without any benefits for the local population.
