Those pants were amazing. They give Australia's Tron outfits a run for their money.

Is it true most curlers start out as janitors sweeping the floor with a brush? Sure looks like that in this "sport"! LOL

What is this kids' game doing in the Olympic programme?

This is the most boring sport on earth! Ok, after ekiden maybe! It really sucks.

True, it's like watching chess. In fact, it's like chess on ice, where each opponent tries to out think the other. Strategy and precision is everything.

"This is the most boring sport on earth!" Says hellhound!!
Still many people around the world like it. That's why it might be an olympic discipline. But people like hellhound might dislike it. Nothing wrong with that. GO JAPAN!!!!

It's certainly the slowest-paced game in the Winter Olympics, but beats the pants of a lot of other things called 'sports'. While I'd prefer to watch neither, I'd watch curling over Sumo, golf, bowling, equestrian, ekiden, race car driving, and heaps of others like them. Well... it would have to be limited to Olympics, of course.
Anyway, the Japanes ladies scored a major win, and this will boost the sport, which is a good thing. Clearly it's liked enough here that they can field a team that beats one of the favourites.

Agreed, the win should give them confidence heading into their match against the Canadians tomorrow morning. Now if they can pull off the upset against the heavily favoured canucks, who knows what might happen. It will be tough though, since they'll also have to endure the energetic crowd who will be cheering Canada on.

HumbledCat: True, but the Canadian women weren't exactly stellar today, either. They won in the last round, and not by much. As for playing on home soil, that could be enough to screw them up -- although it's not the finals yet.
It'll be an interesting match -- as far as curling goes (again, it's slow-paced) -- and upsets are not unheard of. I'll be cheering for Canada, of course, but I do hope the Japanese ladies hold their own.
The Canadian men will make it to the elimination round, if it's not already guaranteed, but again who knows what will happen from there.

"The Canadian men will make it to the elimination round, if it's not already guaranteed, but again who knows what will happen from there."
You see, that's what I mean. Placing the Canadian men guaranteed in the elimination round, but at the same time saying that anything could happen. In brief....smithinjapan says it can be either A or B........ Some knowledge if you'd ask me.

The Japanese women train in Canada. -Should be a good competitive match. "A slow sport" -gives you alot of TV face time. Nice to see the venue filled, but Canada is curling central especially on the West.

The West?? I thought it wa smore popular in the East? Regardless of what many think, it is fun to play and many Xmas parties and whatnot are held at curling clubs. Drinks in one hand, rock in the other! Go Canada!
