But impossible as at least two of Argentina, Germany and England will be in the same group of top seeds, probably all three.

I would like to see England, Australia, Japan and New Zealand. Many kiwis would like to see that. I think Japan and New Zealand will be in the same pot so maybe not.

Most probably Asia and Oceania will be put in the same group for the draw, so they will not share the same group. It will be 1 or 2 from Europe, 1 from South America, 1 from Africa/Concacaf and 1 for NZ/Asia. The pools to avoid, in my opinion, will be the ones that have Portugal, France and/or Paraguay, as they are second seeds. Japan cannot avoid playing against one of the top seeds, but is better to play against Switzerland or Slovenia than to play Portugal or France.

I think the best case for Japan to advance to the next round would be a draw like this ( as the pools allow) on Friday = South Africa, Paraguay and Slovakia. Worst case = Brazil, Ivory Coast and Portugal. Best for neutral fans = Japan, Brazil, Ghana and France...

    What do you reckon?

Paraguay is strong. Today is South America number 1 or 2. South Africa as a first seed is a joke.

Home nations always get seeded, or have done since seeding was brought in. It helps them go further, keeping local interest alive. I think there are some very strong European and S. American teams outside of the seeded group: not just Portugal and France, but Denmark, Switzerland and Greece all look strong. African teams such as Cote d'Ivoire and Nigeria are going to have a tremendous local support. I really can't see much hope for any of the Asian, North American group, depending on the draw. Maybe USA might get through.

Yes Paraguay has had a good qualification but when they get to the real thing they will fall (as quickly) as usual.. maybe my judgement is clouded by the sweet memory of England whooping them and then Sweden doing the same in Germany but I cant remember them actually doing much at any WC.

Yeah, I know. But if it could be possible...I would pay millions to be there and watch it.
