Would love to hear Ishihara's reaction to this. How can he accept the help yet still keep the xenophobic outlook he has?

As a politician, Ishihara will gladly accept China's support. However, Chinasupport really depends on continuing "good" Sino-Japanese relations for the next 7 years.

Whilst I agree re Ishihara and his xeno view of life, the Chinese can also start the promotion of sporting exchanges by asking their fans to behave during games. I still recall with distaste the Asian Championships (football) where the Chinese fans were almost racially abusive as Ultras in rome.

Looking at the present state of economy of China and Japan, Japan will make every effort on continuing "good" relationship for the next century. Also, i hope Asia will support Tokyo's 2016 bid since Japan can afford it despite severe economic conditions.

I agree, if the Asia Pacific economies vote as a block, Japan would have a very good chance of getting the 2016 Olympics. 2008 Beijing Olympics was impressive, and the region needs more events as such. I would like economies like Chile, or Peru considered for a future date. Minimize the politics, and let the horses run.

China Thank's a lot.

I hope USA (my favourite country) supports Japan's bid too. As much as I wish the games to be in Chicago, I think it will be difficult for USA to organize anything in these dire times.

if you believe anything the chinese say, you've clearly set yourself up for a big disappointment.
