Go Chelsea!!

I just can't seem to get excited about the Premier League or even professional football anymore. Given the choice between moneybags Chelski and moneybags Citeh for the title, well I'm not really bothered to be honest. Now Arsenal and Manure are going the same way i.e. forking out ridiculous sums of money for overrated (mostly overseas) players. When Wenger goes, doubtless it will be a managerial merry-go-round there as well as it is becoming at United since Fergie retired (I can't see Van Gaal hanging around more than a few seasons even if they are successful). Southampton were a breath of fresh air but after losing to Citeh, I guess they are on their way back down the table where they 'belong'. At the end of the day, it doesn't matter what anyone says, money buys success. Even the lower leagues are going the same way. I can't identify with my hometown club anymore: Italian owners, 4 managers in less than a year, most of the squad made up of loaned players from sister European clubs, a new stand but with zero character. I don't even bother trying to remember the names of the players anymore because I know they probably won't be there next season. It's a far cry from the eighties when even 'little' clubs like mine had a chance to win trophies or have a decent run in the top flight.

'Given the choice between moneybags Chelski and moneybags Citeh for the title, well I'm not really bothered'.

The creation of the Premiership was to mostly to blame for this - plus the attempt to turn it into a global brand. The only reason smaller teams like Wigan can pick up an FA Cup is that the money teams can't really be arsed with the FA cup anymore. Even with someone like a Clough in charge, the likes of Notts Forest couldn't dream of a title or a European trophy.

I agree. I like to wind up our resident Manure supporters but in truth I've mostly lost interest in the Premier League. Money is making it silly. I'm a pretty long time City supporter, but it just isn't the same club with the obscene bucks. It's a shame, but that's the reality now.
