I’m not tall, not powerful and don’t have big muscles,” the 1.52-meter-tall, 53-kilogram

According to wikipedia, her height is 1.63 meter. 1.52-meter is too small.

“Everybody hits harder, more powerful, more speedy,” Date Krumm said. “A long time ago, in my generation, everybody was using more the head and more the tactics, and tennis I think was more interesting to watch and play.

I agree. The game is all about power now, which has not necessarily made it more interesting. I loved to watch tournaments in the 1980s and -90s. But interest has waned, especially when the finals show the same sisters again and again . . . I admire Kimiko for her perseverance and her husband's encouragement.

What is wrong with the same sisters being shown ? It just shows how lame today's players are. Playing for the sake of it when your game is gone is like a pro boxer who is punch drunk but misses the glory.Uninspiring in my opinion.

Very impressive that Date Krumm was able to take a player 20 years her junior to three sets. Good for her and I love her spirit. Reminds me of George Foreman.

Good on Kimiko if she's enjoying herself.

And as for the Williams sisters getting in every final. That just shows how good they are - and how bad the others are. The world number one being beaten 6-0, 6-1 by Venus at Wimbledon is frankly embarassing.

She should have stayed retired. She's news in Japan but washed up by any other standard.
