I think she made a huge mistake retiring when she did, at her peak, all those years ago. I still can't fathom out why she did it. I have no doubt in my mind that she would have won a grand slam, if she'd stayed in the game at that time. Definately the best female player Japan has ever produced.

In recent tournaments she's been put out of action quite early. Looks like she may already be over the hill. And by that, I mean well over 17. ;)
