Great words of wisdom. I bet slogging away in after school in Jyuku rather than playing sports, as Date-Krumm's generation were able to do, has something to do with it.

First of all get rid of soft tennis... biomechanically it,s so different to the real thing, Then training , proper institutions and academy,s are required to nurture flurish and grow future stars of the game , in a country where the tennis courts are most of the time booked out by the pensioners not to mention the ratio of student to coaches One time I saw 1x coach and 20 students on one court.... Nishikori was trained at the prestigious bollietieri academy in florida since he was 14, tennis is also a mental sports and that,s where the japanese are lacking "the can do ,never say die C,MON attitude" until that changes Tennis will always remain a sub par sport in Japan...
