Usually we think of asians as oriental.. so I have a hard time counting caucasians in the asian nation of Austrailia and philipino's in the Philippines.

In the same way, would you class 2nd or 3rd generation Japanese people who might look completely foreign (non-Japanese) as not being Asian or Japanese? Looks can be deceiving, you know.

No, I never thought looks were deceiving. Never heard that before until you taught it to me just now. I always thought everything was as simple as surface level. You're soo smart.

@ real doll - this is an award for the Asian Confederation player of the year. Not the ethnic Asian player of the year. As such, White, Black, Asian, Aboriginal and any other ethnicity are in the running - there are millions of non-ethnic-Asians living and playing in our Asian region. Well done Mr Djeparov - but I was hoping it would go to another Aussie!

Djeparov won because Honda or Kagawa didn't attend the ceremony. It's as simple as that. Still, congratulations to him, Ishige and Miyama !
