Chiba gets 1st win; Urawa still in charge

CHIBA —

JEF United Chiba finally posted its first win of the season with a 1-0 defeat of Kyoto Sanga on Saturday. Incoming manager Alex Miller watched from the stands as Chiba huffed and puffed in driving rain before it was finally rewarded when Kohei Kudo tapped home to snap a seven-match losing skid.

Back at the top of the table, Edmilson converted from the penalty spot to lift Urawa Reds to a 1-0 win over in-form Kawasaki Frontale.  Urawa went three points clear at the top after second-placed Nagoya Grampus was held to a 0-0 draw at home to Vissel Kobe. In other games, Kashiwa Reysol beat FC Tokyo 1-0, Consadole Sapporo edged Omiya Ardija 2-1, Tokyo Verdy went down 2-0 to Oita Trinita, while Albirex Niigata beat Jubilo Iwata 1-0.
