Very funny... a European Baseball Team ????? And All-Star ?????

How on earth did they manage to find enough europeans who play that "sport"?

"Hey! You wanna be an all-star?" "Sure!" "Great! Have you ever seen a baseball match?" "About 10 minutes...?" "Phantastic! Sign here!"

Hilarious! Even the name "All-Star" is comical in the context of a continent that does not play baseball. What next, the Japanese All-Star cricket team?

And really, baseball and softball should be kept out of the Olympics - neither is a global sport.

Geez... that's like putting a kid's basketball team against the US 'Dream Team'. Still, that the Europeans have put enough people together and organized a match against Japan is impressive enough and deserves a pat on the back. I don't think I want to see what the score will end up being, though.

My Japanese acquaintances always try to rub it in when it comes to baseball, so I can’t help to remind them, that the Netherlands are the last, true baseball world champions, since they won the final Baseball World Cup and that they beat Japan. They don’t believe me and it’s met with laughter, but it is true. But ok, baseball isn’t exactly a popular sport in Europe.

Agreed, the Netherlands have to have the strongest team in Europe. But baseball's always been inexplicably popular in north-west England, especially around the Liverpool area.

And we all played rounders at primary school, until we were old enough to appreciate the beauty and magnificence of cricket.... ; )

Baseball is played in Europe? Lived in Europe nearly my entire life and never heard of any European leagues or anything.

Some European nations still owns colonies in the Caribbean islands. They play with the Cubans.

And Cardiff. But it is the UK variant, from which baseball was derived.
